Being stuck in the house for months with my family during the global pandemic has made me keenly aware of a lot of things.  But one thing I was not expecting to realize was how the products I had been using to clean my hardwood floors and my master bathroom were not getting the job done.  Don’t get me wrong, those areas were not filthy, but our hectic schedule made our house more like a pit stop and I never took the extra time to really figure out what to do about those areas.

And in all honesty, house cleaning is something I’d rather outsource anyway.  Therefore, finding the perfect cleaning products was pretty low on my list of priorities – until the pandemic.  So, with my iPad in hand, I went on a serious mission that has taken several months of trial and error to find cleaning products and tools that actually work.

Below is the very best of what I found.

The first thing I decided to do was to upgrade my scrub brushes.  I figured there had to be something better than the manual brushes from the Dollar Store I had been using.  Not that there’s anything wrong with the manual brushes from the Dollar Store, but I was ready to use a lot less muscle power on cleaning day.

The first brush I bought was Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber with 1/2 in General Cleaning Head. It resembles a battery-operated toothbrush and it’s just the right size to clean the grout on my shower wall and the crevices and tracks of my shower door.

I also bought the Electric Spin Scrubber Power Brush Floor Scrubber Cordless Shower Scrubber with Adjustable Extension Arm and 3 Replaceable Bathroom Scrubber Cleaning Brush Heads.

That was definitely a great purchase.  It’s got a nice long handle and three different brush heads for scrubbing my shower, though I normally don’t bother switching between them.  I just care about the fact that I don’t have to get on my hands and knees to scrub the floor of my shower anymore and the motorized brush does all of the work.

And speaking of that shower floor, I have tried dozens and dozens of different products to get it really clean.  Dirt and grime was embedded into the textured floor of the shower and nothing I tried would loosen that dirt.  However, Better Life Tub & Tile Cleaner with Tea Tree and Eucalyptus did the trick.  I had to wait a little while before scrubbing after I sprayed the product in the shower though.  But after I waited a minute or so and used my motorized scrub brush, my shower floor was bright white again.

Another thing in my master bathroom that never seemed clean was the glass on my shower door.  The soap scum and hard water stains made it look completely opaque and none of the products that promised to fix that problem worked for me.  Until I tried Chomp Bathroom Gel Cleaner.  It is a thick gel and I awkwardly tried to pour it directly onto my shower door before I realized I needed to use a sponge, but my shower door looked brand new in less than one minute when I was done.  I had been skeptical that this cleaner would work after everything else failed, but I’m a believer now.

However, next to my sparkling, like-new shower, the grout on my bathroom floor now looked terrible.  Rejuvenate Grout Deep Cleaner Safe Non-Toxic Cleaning Formula along with my Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber with 1/2 in General Cleaning Head came to the rescue.  My bathroom really looks brand new again.

So with the master bathroom in tip-top shape, I turned my attention to the kitchen.  Everything looked pretty good in there except for the hardwood floors.  Years of using the wrong products on the floor had left it with a visible wax build-up particularly around the perimeter of the room.  Nothing that I had tried would remove that build-up.  And believe me, I had tried everything I could find in the stores.

Absolutely nothing worked until I discovered Quick Shine Holloway House Deep Cleaner & Wax Remover.  Oh my goodness, I thought I heard angels singing when I first used that product.  I used it full-strength, though I probably wasn’t supposed to, but that wax build-up melted away like butter almost instantly.

So, that’s my list.  If you have found any wonder products that you recommend, let me know.

Happy Cleaning!  (Just kidding.)
